Getting Started

If you would like to explore this conversation with Michelle, here is what you can expect:

  • Conversation with Church staff & Elders – we’ll lay a foundation so everyone understands why this is important and what’s at stake.  This topic must have the complete support of Lead Staff and the Elder body.

Once that foundation is set, there are MANY options depending on what everyone agrees the next step might be.  Those options may include:

  • An extended staff conversation to include key ministry leaders such as worship team, greeters, security, discipleship, facility & grounds, etc.
  • A Questions and Answers time
  • A behavior management crash course for all infant – children’s area workers.  ALL small group/Sunday school teachers, including adult class leaders, will benefit especially if you expect to have adults with disabilities among you.
  • Extended Testimony sharing – intended for the whole church body.  Michelle will share how disability effected their church life as a young family, and how God has used her boys’ disability to shine a spotlight on a serious challenge the Church needs to overcome.
  • “Inclusive Worship” workshop intended as a five (5) hour adventure on a Saturday. This function would be suitable to invite neighboring churches
  • Observing a class
  • First  impressions accessibility audit

Michelle will travel to you, but she needs your help to do so.  Basic travel expenses and hospitality will need to be provided by the host church.  A cash gift commensurate of time spent will help support her travel to Presbytery and General Assembly meetings to continue sharing this ministry.
